UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS VIETNAM WAR VETERAN
BASHAM, Ronnie Jay. 70, died October 19, 2015, at his Springdale home surrounded by his family and friends.
Ronnie was born February 21, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN, to Pauline (Perry) and John T. Basham. Ronnie spent his career as a mason and had a passion for building. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962-1968 serving two tours in Vietnam with the 1st Battalion 9th Marines (1964-1967) and was honorably discharged.
Ronnie was a follower of Jesus Christ and an active member of the Springdale Church of the Nazarene. He served in a variety of roles including an usher, greeter, a volunteer for upward basketball and Soul Food pantry. Ronnie is survived by his wife Frances (nee Short) of 47 years, son Doug (Danielle) Basham, daughter Dana (David) Hutsko, Brother Paul (Judy) Basham and grandchildren Ashley, Austin, Alexandra, Andrew, Aidan, and Allison. He was preceded in death by his twin brother Jonnie Ray Basham.
Friends may greet the family from 2:00 PM until Celebration Service at 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Springdale Church of the Nazarene, 11177 Springfield Pike, Springdale, OH 45246. Family and friends will gather at 8:00 AM on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Springdale Church of the Nazarene to begin funeral procession to Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W 3rd St, Dayton, OH 45428. Committal Service will be held at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers please make all donations to Springdale Nazarene Missions, 11177 Springfield Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45246.
