HAVENSTEINRonald A., beloved husband and father, 71, died at home on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, after a brief battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain tumor. He was born at home in Alta Vista, Kansas on August 14, 1939, the son of Arthur & Eva Havenstein. He was an excellent student in the local one-room rural schoolhouses of the area. He attended Osage City High School and graduated in 1957 along with a class of 42 graduates. He went on to study Chemical Engineering at Kansas State University and upon graduation, was employed by Procter & Gamble for 37 years. He worked in Iowa City (1962-1969), Chicago (1969-1973), and Cincinnati (1973-1999). He married Jacalynn Lortscher in 1962 and they shared 49 years of marriage together. Their two children, Cynthia Ann (Nugent) and Michael Douglas, were the joy of his life. He was active in his chosen churches in each place the family resided, including serving as Church Moderator, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Vision 2000 Committee, Pastoral Search Committee, and Personnel & Pastoral Relations Committee, and choir member at Montgomery Community Church. He also served on the board of Judson Village Retirement Community, and various advisory roles at Greenhills High School during his children's years there. He was an avid fan and sometimes coach of Cindi & Mike's sports teams, as well as an encourager of their musical interests. Ron will be remembered as a man of excellence, a hard and faithful worker with a generous heart, and a man who loved His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a lover of books and music and enjoyed travelling extensively in his retirement. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Ron was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; daughter & son-in-law, Cindi & Jon Nugent of Cincinnati; son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Kim Havenstein of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters, Carolyn Fager and Janet Seyfert; and six beloved grandchildren: Brayden, Joshua, Connor, Jacob, Abigail, and Catelynn. Visitation on Saturday, July 9, 2011, from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at Montgomery Community Church, 11251 Montgomery Road, Montgomery, Ohio 45249.
