Mr. Robert (Bob) Alexander Zimmerman died peacefully at Maple Knoll on September 5th in Springdale, Ohio at the age of 95.

Bob is survived by his children, Tom Zimmerman and Chad Zimmerman; his brother, John Zimmerman; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; his parents Isaac and Grace; his brother, William; and his sister, Ruth.

Bob was born on March 17, 1921 in York, Pennsylvania to Isaac and Grace Zimmerman.  After attending York Collegiate Institute, he enrolled at Virginia Tech (VPI).  In December of 1942, his entire class was called to active duty.  Two days after graduating from OCS, and on May 6,1944 Bob married Marjorie Ann Woodworth in York, Pennsylvania.  Bob served in Army artillery, primarily in the pacific, being discharged in August, 1946.    They returned to Blacksburg, and Bob then graduated from Virginia Tech in June, 1947 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.  They then moved in Cincinnati, where Bob began his 35-year career as an Industrial Engineer at Procter and Gamble.

By 1949, Bob and Marj had welcomed two children (Tom & Chad) and bought a home in Wyoming, Ohio.  In 1950, Bob was called back up for the Korean conflict, and for six months the family lived in Texarkana, TX.  In 1951, Bob was sent to Europe. He was released from service in 1952, returned to his job at P&G and his home in Wyoming, Ohio where they lived until the children had grown and moved away.

Starting in 1970, Bob did a series of plant construction projects for P&G, and he and Marj lived in Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, followed by Oxnard, CA, and finally two assignments in Mexico City.

In 1983, Bob retired from P&G, and shortly after that, Bob and Marj moved to Finneytown, Ohio.

In 1992, Marj was diagnosed with bulbar Palsey (ALS), and she subsequently died on September 8, 1993.

In 2006, Bob moved to Maple Knoll in Springdale, Ohio.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on September 24th at the Maple Knoll chapel (11100 Springfield Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45246), with a reception to follow.  Dr. Edward Goode will officiate the ceremony.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob 's life.
