Rita Whittington

WHITTINGTONRita B., (nee Burwinkel). January 16, 1923 to December 25, 2012. Beloved wife of the late James F. Whittington. Devoted mother of Don (Karen) Whittington of Memphis, TN, Tom (Darlene) Whittington of Norwood, OH, and Mary (T.J.) Koerner of Atlanta, GA. Loving grandmother of Colin (Katie), Tim (Laura), Erin, Alan (Kim), Alice, Amy (Josh), Sean, Kyle. Great grandmother of Connor, Aiden, and Olivia. Passed away Christmas morning, Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at the age 89, after being with her entire family Christmas Eve. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Former pilot and a volunteer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. A lifelong resident of Norwood and Pleasant Ridge was also known as ''Grandma Buzz'' by her Camp Firefly friends. Friends may call at the Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 5501 Montgomery Road., Norwood on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corner of Drex Avenue and Montgomery Road, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM.
