Richard Lynn (Dick) White, 72, of Milford, Ohio, passed away peacefully April 5, 2017. He was the beloved husband and soulmate of Judy (nee Mara) for 48 years, proud and devoted father of Melody Lyn (David) Smith, loving and caring grandfather of Madison Lily Smith, dear brother of Lois (Bob) Dean and uncle of Angela Wagstaff. A kind and warmhearted man, he most highly valued the people he loved. Friendship, to him, was a prize and contentment with life could be seen in his eyes.

Born in Sandusky, Ohio, to Clara May Black and Carl F. White, Dick graduated from Clyde High School, Clyde, Ohio. He received his BS in Music Education from Capital University, Ohio, and M.Ed. in Education from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio.For 30 years Dick was the Instrumental Music Director for the Norwood High School Band and Music Supervisor for the Norwood City Schools. He was a long-time member of Zion United Church of Christ and the Zion Chancel Choir. He held church leadership positions including president of the governing board. He was a founding member of the award-winning Norwood Community Chorus and served as singer, librarian, and administrator. He was also an able musician and played several instruments.

Visitation and funeral service will be held at Zion United Church of Christ, Norwood, Ohio: Visitation will be Tuesday, April 11, 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM; Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 12 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. David V. Schwab officiating.  Memorial donations can be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 2301 Indian Mound Ave., Norwood, Ohio 45212.
