Phyllis Helms

HELMSPhyllis Jane (nee Hays). Beloved wife of the late Howard N. Helms. Passed away peacefully on April 15, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Howard, who died March 9, 2009. Phyllis and Howard were active in their church, Forest Chapel UMC, Forest Park until their health prevented regular attendance. She and Howard sang in the choir and Phyllis was in the Women's Circle for many years. Phyllis was an outstanding mother and mother-in-law. She was born September 5, 1928. Howard's career moved his family to Texas, Maryland, Ohio, and Tennessee. She was the kindest mother of 3 sons and daughters-in-law; Greg (Sue), Brad (AnneMarie), Lonnie (Linda). She is also survived by her only brother, Dale (Carole) Hays of Akron, Ohio. Additionally, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren are left with wonderful memories of summer vacations at Ocean Isle Beach with their Granny and Grampa. Visitation will take place Friday evening, April 17, 2009, 6 PM to 8 PM at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 11 AM at Forest Chapel UMC, 680 W. Sharon Rd., Forest Park, OH 45240. Memorials may be sent to the Forest Chapel UMC or Crossroads Hospice.
