Melvin Prell

PRELLMelvin E., 87. He passed away on January 31, 2011 in Weeki Wachee, FL. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Stankovics) Prell and the late Rita Ann Prell and devoted father of Janet Kukla, Lynne Botts, Connie Douglas, M. Rick Prell, Pat Brickweg, Mike Prell, Mark Prell, Joe Prell, Karen Prell, and stepsons, Steve and Andy Stankovics. He was a loving grandfather of sixteen and great grandfather of eight. He is survived by a brother, Vernon (Jeanette) Prell and a sister, Dolores Berning. Mr. Prell served in the U.S. Coast Guard/Navy during WWII participating in the Southern Pacific Campaign. He served on the Norwood Police Force for 21 years, then retired and started a TV and electronics business (Mel-Tronics). He worked as a security guard at St. Elizabeth Hospital in KY. He enjoyed traveling and was a private pilot with a love for flying. Visitation at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 5501 Montgomery Road, Norwood, OH on Monday, February 7, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 PM. FOP Services at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, 2420 Drex Avenue, Norwood, OH on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery following the Mass.
