Midge spent most of her working career as a Printed Circuit Board Layout Engineer. One key piece of circuitry she designed was the interface keypad used in the da Vinci robotic surgical machines. Early in her career she was one of the first users of Computer Aided Design (CAD) workstations for performing the PC board layout task. She worked with the engineers who invented the Gerber file format which is now used everywhere in the world. Many of her suggestions were incorporated in successive models of Gerber workstations and helped establish the foundation upon which modern CAD PC board layout is based.
