In Celebration of Mary Louise Heckel
Mary Louise Heckel came into the world on August 26, 1928, and left this life quietly on November 8, 2019. She has been surrounded with the love of her family and God. She is survived by her six children and their spouses. Mary Jo (Jim Grogan), Debbie (Dana Rudolph), Karen (Jack Kaser), Sandra (Jim Block), Geraldine (Mark Naugle) and Walter Heckel (Pam). She is remembered and loved by her 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Heckel, her parents Walter and Mary Henne and her brother and his wife Fred and Mary Lou Henne.
She received a BBA from the University of Dayton and a Masters of Education from Xavier University then worked as a Montessori teacher. She became a Master Gardener and began working in city gardens all over Cincinnati. She gardened at home, OLR church and many city parks. Activities she enjoyed included dancing with The Harris Rosedale Dancing Grandmas on Tap and square dancing. A lifelong Roman Catholic, she was a dedicated follower of the lord and prayed every day. She instilled a strong moral compass in each of her children. She has passed on her love of art, dancing, gardening, sense of adventure, curiosity for new things, and tremendous love of life to her children. We will miss her!
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 17 Farragut Rd., Greenhills, OH 45218 on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 1 pm. An informal gathering will be held at the church, immediately following mass.
Private burial has been held Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
