FERRIS, Mary Jo. Lifetime resident of Greenhills, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at age 85. Mary Jo was the last surviving child of William and Rosemary Ferris of Greenhills, Ohio. Having spent her whole life in Greenhills, she always prided herself as being from a family of “Pioneers” who settled and stayed in Greenhills since its founding. She never stopped referring to Greenhills as “The Village”. After graduation from Greenhills High School, Mary Jo started her career at General Electric where she remained until her retirement. After retirement, her years were marked by selfless devotion to caring for her mother, Rosemary. A woman of unwavering faith, Mary Jo was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rosemary (nee Smith) Ferris; her brothers, Jim, Dan, Pat, and Tom Ferris; and her sisters, Ann Schehr and Ellen Adderly. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Don Schehr; and four sisters-in law, Nykie, Carolyn, Joan, and Rhonda Ferris. Also surviving are eleven nieces and eight nephews who will treasure their memories of "Jo-Jo".
Visitation will be held at Vorhis and Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pk., Springdale, OH 45246 on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 9-10AM. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:30AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 17 Farragut Rd., Greenhills, OH 45218. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Our Lady of the Rosary Parish or to the charity of your choice.
