M. Anne Willmann-Nolan (Down), 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio, died peacefully Tuesday, February 27, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Wyoming, IL on December 7, 1933, the daughter of C. Prescott & Dorothy M. (Durling) Down. Eldest daughter of six children. Anne graduated Wyoming High School, Class of 1952 and attended the University of Illinois, alumni member of Chi Omega sorority.
Anne’s life centered around the importance of faith, family, and country. An active member of Messiah Lutheran Church for 54 years, and a member of Phyllis Schlafly’s Eagle Forum for 50 years, she assisted with many political campaigns and often volunteered as a poll judge. Anne was recently recognized at the Cincinnati Women’s Club for her 30-year membership, where she held several leadership positions and enjoyed an active social lifestyle. Summers were enjoyed at her home in Lakeside, Ohio, the site of many family gatherings and another wonderful circle of friends.
Anne met Dean E. Willmann at the University of Illinois and they married August 7, 1954. They lived in Chicago, England and Washinton D.C., but their home was Cincinnati, 46 years on Riddle Road and 8 years at Evergreen Retirement Community. Following Dean’s death, September 10, 1991, Anne met and married our beloved stepfather, William “Bill” Mark Nolan, March 20, 1999. Throughout Anne’s life her highest priority was focused on raising her children to know the Lord and encouraged a strong family bond across all generations. Preceded by her first husband, Dean E. Willmann, son, Douglas Dean Willmann, grandson, David Willmann, and two brothers, Jerry Down and David Down, survivors include her loving husband of nearly 25 years, William “Bill” Nolan, two sons, Kevin (Debbie) Willmann of Carmel, Indiana, Dan (Gina) Willmann of Orlando, Florida, two daughters, DeAnne Johnson (Willmann) of Dublin, Ohio and Rebecca DeVencenzi (Willmann) of Kansas City, Missouri, and four stepdaughters, Anne (Jim) Michael (Nolan), Carol (Fritz) Drake (Nolan), Marcia Nolan, Mary Stimmel (Nolan), grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Williams, Drew Willmann, Matt (Lindsay) Willmann, Christina (Derek) Monti, Josh (Audrey) Willmann, Paul (Megan) Willmann, Ben (Krista) Willmann, Elizabeth (Ethan) Oates, Alexa Wilson, Ryleigh Wilson, Amelia (Jared) Murlin, Kate (Isaac) Neale, Emily (Caleb) Kennefick, Hope DeVencenzi, Dean DeVencenzi, John-Elijah DeVencenzi, three step granddaughters, Shelby Nolan, Mary Jane Michael, Josie Michael, 20 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 8, 5-8 pm at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale, OH 45246. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2-3 pm at Messiah Lutheran Church, 10416 Bossi Lane, Cincinnati, Ohio with reception immediately following. Interment, Oak Hill Cemetery, Monday, March 11, 10am.
