Leo Hays

Leo Edgar Hays, 86, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born February 14, 1937 in Gray Hawk, KY to Roy and Hazel Hays.  He served in the U.S. Army for three years. In 1961 he met the love of his life Freeda (McGeorge) Hays.  They married on February 2, 1962 and had four daughters.  He was an active member of New Bethel Baptist Church.  Leo was the owner/operator of Hays Gulf, Hays Mobil, and Hays Garage.  He was kind, generous and a friend to everyone he knew.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, daughter Beth Peace and granddaughter Caroline Grace Peace, his parents Roy and Hazel; brothers, Lewis, Bill, Glen and Kenny.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years Freeda (McGeorge) Hays, daughters Sandy Williams (Jimmy), Jennifer Freeman (Matt) and 9 grandchildren: Melody, Megan and Jared Williams, Christian Connor, Olivia Peace, Ryan, Ethan, and Cate Freeman; sisters and brothers, Sylvia Elliott, Sheila Richardson, Bruce Hays and Teddy Hays.  Family and friends may visit Friday, June 16, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM at New Bethel Baptist Church, 2400 Norwood Avenue, Norwood, Ohio 45212.
