Laughton Fine

Laughton (Larry) Fine passed peacefully on January 14th, at age 85, after a long journey with Parkinson's Disease. He is survived by his daughter Ann (partner Robert Frost), and sons Don (wife Heidi Smakula) and Tom (wife Sara Susskind), and 3 grandchildren, Alex and Grace Fine, and Zachary Susskind, brother Dan (wife Carolyn) and sister Jane (late husband George), as well as a large extended family and many friends and respected colleagues. He was preceded by his wife Gladys (nee Neeley). He also leaves his 4th child - the electronics design and manufacturing company he co-founded and ran for 44 years - D F Electronics, now in the hands of 2 of his children. Larry's wisdom, wit, integrity, kindness, intelligence, even temperament and his support of his family and friends will be sorely missed. For a quiet man, he left an quite an imprint in the world.

A Memorial / Celebration of his Life will be held at the Centennial Barn at 110 Compton Road in Springfield Township (45215) from 12pm to 4pm. Everyone who knew him is welcome to stop by for a visit or to stay for the afternoon. A formal presentation will happen around 1:30pm. Everyone is encouraged to bring photos or other memorabilia to commemorate Larry or Larry and Gladys together. There will be an opportunity for anyone who wants to share a story or a thought to do so.

We will hold this event in almost any weather - if the roads are drivable. In case of serious weather (bad snow or ice) we will reschedule. Contact Ann or Don for any questions.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of Larry's favorite charities - Freestore Foodbank, WMKV, St. Rita's School for the Deaf, Parkinson's Foundation or the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
