Herrmann, Kenneth Walter, 93, passed away August 21, 2023. Predeceased by Dorothy Twietmeyer Herrmann, his wife of 59years; his brother Don; and his granddaughter Grace Bell. Survived by his five children Holly Crosthwait (Richard), David, Laura Bell (Steve), Barbara Stifel (David) and Scott (Lori).  Grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Born December 13, 1929, to Walter and Dorothy (Kueltzo) Herrmann in Chicago, Illinois, where he lived until attending college. He was baptized and confirmed at Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church, and graduated from Gage High School.

He met his wife while attending Valparaiso University (1947-1951); they married June 23, 1951, twenty days after graduation, and moved to Ames, Iowa, so he could begin his graduate studies at Iowa State (1951-1955) and start his Research Assistanceship at the Ames Laboratory. His Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry obtained, they relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ken began his 35 year career with Procter and Gamble. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers Association (CSMA) 1979-1982, was Vice Chairman (1980) and Chairman (1981).

Family was very important to him and Dorothy; one way their love was demonstrated was by hosting all of the family in various locations for reunions. His grandchildren are grateful for the opportunity he and Dorothy gave the to raft the Grand Canyon.

He was a founding member Messiah Lutheran Church in Greenhills. In his younger years he enjoyed playing golf, volleyball, racquetball and bridge; accompanying his sons on Boy Scout trips (Appalachian Trail, canoeing in Canada); planning annual family camping trips to ghost towns in the middle of nowhere; visiting life-long friends from Valpo and Iowa State days; and annual trips with 3 other couples from the Greenhills neighborhood.

Internment at Oak Hill Cemetery In Springdale, on August 26, 2023, with a private family service. No visitation is planned.
