THOMPSONJohn W., passed into eternity on July 24, 2012 at age 88. He leaves his dear wife, Rebecca (nee Scharver) of 41 years, daughter, Mary Jonelle (fianc? Dale Johnson), sons, Jay (Patricia), James D. (Gwen), Adam J. (Stacy), and the late Edward C. Thompson, and daughter-in-love, Robin Marker. Dear Papa of Andrew Marker, Jack, Kate, Charlie, Brayden, and Daniel Thompson. Caring brother of Juanita (the late Albert) Schwab. Son-in-law of Charles and Alice Scharver, brother-in-law of Mimi and Robin Gozden, Paul and Jeanette Scharver, Sally and Greg Mason, and Steve and Angie Scharver. Also survived by thirteen nieces and nephews, twenty-one great nieces and nephews, and eight great-great nieces and nephews. Loving son of the late John and the late Dorothy Thompson. Visitation at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM and additional visitation on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Parkinson's Research Foundation. John served as a civilian with the Navy during WWII, stationed in Pearl Harbor and worked on the Manhattan Project. After the war he worked at the Crosley Company in Cincinnati. He was also in business with his brother-in-law, Albert Schwab running a small grocery store before going to work with the Ford Motor Company. He worked at the Fairfax and Sharonville plants, retiring from Ford after 39 years. He was a proud member of Local 868 of the UAW.John was devoted to his family, loved tinkering and inventing things especially for his beloved sailboat which he built himself. He enjoyed boating on the Ohio River and Grand Lake St. Mary's.
