Jane Garvin

Jane Hamilton Garvin, age 92, of Glendale, Ohio, passed away on November 15, 2015. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Marie Baker Pettay and late George Hamilton on October 28, 1923. She was married to Hugh Garvin, Jr. of Glendale, Ohio for nearly 70 years.

Jane obtained her Master’s Degree at Ohio State University and was Associate Professor of Nutrition at the University of Cincinnati for many years.  She served as a delegate for the American Dietetic Association and was active in the American and Ohio Dietetic Associations and Nutrition Council. Jane was also a member of the Glendale Monday Class, Lunch and Learn, and Ohio Women’s Club. Jane will be remembered as a gifted educator who touched many lives. She was an active member of the Village of Glendale and well known for her passion for cooking and helping others.

Family and friends delighted Jane. Her husband, three children, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren lit up her life. Some of her favorite times were spent at the family summer home in Pointe au Baril, Ontario, Canada with her large extended family. She loved to host and entertain.

Jane is survived by her husband, Hugh Garvin, Jr., her three children Ann (David) Garvin, Sarah Callahan and Hugh “Buzz” (Dana) Garvin, III, her four grandchildren Grace Callahan, Taylor (Taylor) Garvin, Alex (Kerry) Garvin and Drew (Brittany) Garvin and her two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Brayden Garvin. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for Jane during her last illness. Donations may be made to the Hospice of Cincinnati or a charity of your choice.
