MEINKINGJack Alvin, beloved husband of Mary Catherine (nne Burst) Meinking for 53 years; devoted father of Carol Ann (Scott) Albaugh, Donna Meinking, and Raymond (Bonnie) Meinking; dear brother of Joan Domme of Atlanta, Georgia and James Meinking of Kentucky. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Dorothy Meinking. Passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 after a short battle with esophageal cancer. Age 78. He was born on May 28, 1932. Jack served in the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifelong resident of Cincinnati. He received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Cincinnati and was an electrical engineer at General Electric for 30 years. Jack was a well-known Ballroom and DanceSport DJ for over 50 years. In the early 1970's Jack became the music director for the annual Mid-United States Tournament, a position he held for 30 years. He continued to DJ for over 12 major competitions and 50 events across the country each year. He was registered with the National Dance Council of America and was one of the most sought after music directors in the country. For over ten years Jack served as one of the primary music directors for the Ohio Star Ball, playing and orchestrating the music for the 15,000 routines danced over the five day competition. His music and unique dance style will be missed by many in the ballroom dance community.
