Helen Haverland, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, at Our Lady of the Valley Assisted Living Community in Roanoke, Virginia. Finally, Helen has been reunited with her beloved deceased husband of 16 years, Harry Haverland. She is survived by her daughters Kathy Jones and Alice Haverland; grandchildren Jones Robert and April (Hayes) Jones and Beth Jones; and great grandchildren Cary and Stella Jones.
Helen was a quiet, reserved, and intelligent woman. She would listen to everyone, but only shared her thoughts and feelings with a few people. If Helen considered you her friend, she was fiercely loyal and proved the old saying that “still water runs deep.” Helen used these qualities to support her family and friends through many of life’s highs and lows.
After raising her family, Helen returned to her professional passion of teaching young children. For many years, she found enjoyment in being an inclusion specialist in the Ohio school system. Helen loved books, birds, and bells.
In lieu of flowers, I am sure the greatest way we can honor Helen’s life and memory is to be kind to each other.
Services may be streamed at 1:50 PM, from graveside at www.facebook.com/VorhisandRyanFuneralHomes/ on Friday, March 27, 2020.
