Heather Segar (Christiansen) passed away under hospice care on June 30, 2022. She is survived by her husband Tracy Segar, her son Evan Segar and her father Bob Christiansen. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Christiansen. Heather was 52.
Heather was born in Arlington Heights, IL in December 1969. She graduated from Arlington Heights HS in 1988 and attended Iowa State University. She earned a degree in Industrial Engineering in 1992. Heather met Tracy in her first class of college, and they were married in June of 1993. After college, they moved to Lexington, KY and she began working for various communication companies managing the setup of cellular sites throughout the country. While in Lexington, Heather discovered her love of everything Kentucky. Particularly UK basketball, horses, and the rich history of the area.
Moving to Cincinnati in 2000 and while working for Motient Corporation she gave birth to her son Evan in 2000 and concurrently suffered a series of strokes. She became a stay at home mom to her son with the help of her family but eventually her decline led to her moving into a nursing home in 2008. She was a resident of Montgomery Care Center until she began to have more strokes beginning in May 2022 that eventually resulted in her death.
Heather faced insurmountable physical challenges. We all hope that we would be courageous in the face of those types of challenges and Heather showed us how to overcome them to be a loving mother, family member, friend and role model. She managed to live life to the fullest and faced each day with gratitude and cheer. Among many things, she enjoyed bingo, church services, parades that went by the nursing home, day trips and both the Reds and Bengals. She had a great laugh that made everyone smile and enjoyed many friends, family and activities. Heather will be missed.
Heather’s memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 1pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Reading, OH.
