Geraldine Johnson

d. January 3, 2014

Geraldine "Gerri" Johnson passed away on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the age of 71. Born March 7, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio she was the daughter of the late John Quincy Adams and Rachel May Adams. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tommy Johnson, a son, Tom, Jr., and a daughter, Dawn. She is also survived by three sisters, Shirley (Charlie) Gray, Judith Terrell and Mary Mullen; one brother, William (Norma) Adams, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia.
She grew up in Loveland, Ohio and as the oldest of six children, Gerri began taking care of others at a very young age. She knew early on that the only thing she wanted in life was to care for a family of her very own. God blessed her as a caregiver and she spent her entire life doing just that.
After a somewhat lengthy courtship, Gerri Adams married Tommy Johnson on December 21, 1963. They eventually settled in Forest Park and in 1968 welcomed Tom, Jr., known as T.J. A few years later in 1971, they welcomed Dawn, known as Cissy.
Gerri was a simple person who often said "what you see is what you get" when it came to her personality. All she wanted in life was to be a good wife and mother, both of which she accomplished with ease. Throughout her life, she loved many things but a few topped the list: being with her family, watching her "stories", Pepsi, dogs, BINGO, music, and reading.
Gerri was a very special and caring person who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister who put family above all else. She was a shining example of love and she will be greatly missed.
We believe that because of her talents, God needs her now and she can rest her weary head in Heaven.
A visitation will take place at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00 AM.
