Fred Benz

BENZFred J., beloved husband of the late Eileen C. (nee Feighery) Benz and the late Anna (nee Strunk) Lincoln-Benz; devoted father of Terry (Fred) Benz; dear grandfather of Tracy (Jason) Purdin, Megan (Jeff) Richmond, and Kathryn (Jessie King) Littner and great grandfather of 8; cherished brother of John Benz and the late Dorothy Connor, Irvin Benz, Robert Benz, and Virginia Lilly. He is also survived by his special friend and caregiver, Tyree Funk. He proudly served on the Norwood Fire Department from 1943 to 1981, during which time he achieved the rank of Assistant Chief. He later served as the Fire Marshal Chief for Sycamore Township Fire Department from 1977 to 1995. Passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the age of 90. A visitation will take place at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 5501 Montgomery Road, Norwood on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at The Community of the Good Shepherd Church, 8815 E. Kemper Road, Montgomery at 12:00 NOON. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
