Franco Tozzi

TOZZI, Franco. Born on February 13, 1938, in Tivoli, Italy to the late Natalino and Constantina Tozzi; and beloved husband to the late Susan (nee Hicks) Tozzi, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2022. He leaves behind his devoted sons, Peter (Lisa) Tozzi and Tony Tozzi. He also leaves behind his much-adored grandchildren, Elliana, Grace, and William. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, his many friends that he met over the years, and his extended family. He is now happily reunited with his late brothers, Bruno Tozzi and Renato (Rita) Tozzi.

Thanks to his parent’s care, Franco survived childhood in WWII Italy and grew to become a talented master tailor who did his apprenticeship in his hometown of Tivoli. With an adventurous spirit chasing his American dream, he came to the USA in 1967, learned English, became a citizen, and worked in clothing manufacturing, quality control, and alterations. He met Susan in Mayfield, Kentucky who would be the love of his life. They married in 1976 and soon moved to Cincinnati where they raised two sons. Franco worked at McAlpins and Dillards in Kenwood. He was a tireless worker for his family, even working into the night and weekends to provide for them. He was a life member 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus where he volunteered. He enjoyed gardening, classic movies, comedies Italian opera, and love to dress up in one of his custom-tailored suits for any occasion he could. He was very social, charming, and wanted to make friends with everyone. He will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale, OH 45246 from 6-8pm.

Mass of Eternal Rest will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church, 48 W. Sharon Rd., Glendale, OH 45246 at 10am.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
