Frances Stewart

Frances M. Stewart (Capannari), 90, passed away on March 10, 2017. Beloved wife of the late John W. Stewart, Sr. Loving mother of John W. (Michelle) Stewart, Jr., Bill Stewart, Peggy Buehler, Jeffrey Stewart, Timothy J. (Bonnie Jo) Stewart, and Kathy Stewart. Beloved grandmother of Kylie, Kendra and Johnny Stewart, Kelly (Kyle) Lewis, Emily Stewart, Jenny (Aaron) Spring, Mary Buehler and Eric Jenkins, Ed (Theresa) Buehler, John Jeffrey Lee (Amberlyn) Stewart, Ryan (Allison) Detzel, Amie Detzel, Anna Marie (Brian) Collins and great grandmother of 16. Dear sister of Lee Burgess and the late Gloria Carville.

Frances was the daughter of Italian immigrants, Basilio and Gelsomina Capannari. During WWII, she enrolled in the Duquesne University Cadet Nurse Corps and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She spent most of her life caring for others as a Registered Nurse. She had six children and family came first, but there was always room in her heart and around her table for friends as well. She was strong, intelligent, compassionate and a great cook. She taught her children to go after what they wanted and to never give up.

Frances was a trailblazer; a college graduate who worked outside of the home during a time when that was not the societal norm. She left this world, after ninety years, during the same week that celebrated International Women’s Day.

Visitation is Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 6-8 PM at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale, OH, 45246. Mass of Eternal Rest will be Thursday, March 16, 2017 at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 48 West Sharon Road, Glendale, OH, 45246 at 11:30 AM where family and friends may visit one hour prior to mass.
