Fontaine (Hunt) Frantz Copelin
Mom was born October 28, 1935 to Bob and Martha (Lambert) Hunt. She was the youngest of 5 children, earning her the nickname “Bits”…(little bits of everyone). Born into a construction family, she moved often. While living in Blacksburg, Virginia mom met her first husband, Dick Frantz and had 3 daughters; Marne (Carl), Fontaine (Robin) and Cary (Terry). Mom was the ultimate homemaker. She loved creating a warm and inviting place to entertain. As kids, we often brought friends home for dinner. Mom loved to cook. She created “Feasts By Fontaine Catering” and secured contracts with law offices to provide tasty board meeting lunches. As we 3 kids grew up and out, Mom changed directions too. She divorced and married Howard Copelin in 1985 and branched out into the workforce, becoming “the Face of Fountain Square”! For years she worked in the center of the Square until her information booth was relocated inside the Cincinnati Convention Center. Mom always joked she “got paid to tell people where to go!”. As a local downtown favorite, she was featured in news articles for her depth of Cincinnati knowledge and the smile and kind demeanor with which she delivered it.
Mom’s love of entertaining brought hilarious family Sunday night dinners, sports team dinners for her grandchildren, and graduation parties. Mom’s house was THE Place to Be. All were welcomed - except Pete Rose! Her dislike of him was so legendary, she ended up with a collection of autographs from him that her friends laughingly presented to her over the years. She could spot a 4-leaf clover from 20 feet away, loved opera, made a mean meatloaf, and of course taught us all her signature Hollandaise recipe (blender, not skillet).
Mom instilled in us a love of family, either by blood or bond. After 60 some years, a missing piece to our family puzzle was discovered and reunited. Denny (Christy) Boone. Finding him again brought her great joy.
One of mom’s gifts was cultivating a relationship with all her grandchildren. Each one had a special bond with their "Grandy". Blaire, Tayler (Ryon), Josh, Robin (Morgan), Avery (Caleb), Carson, Dylan, Keegan and Mairin, all of whom will miss her terribly. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her siblings; Robin (Jane), Boo (Red), Pete (Betty Lee), Mary (Bert).
Mom and Howard were avid bowlers, both regular and candlepin. They bowled in the Tuesday Night Candlepin Couples league and would regularly invite the team back to their house for food and celebration. In keeping with this theme, Mom would be thrilled for you to join us in celebrating her life on Saturday, March 8th from 1-3pm at the Wyoming Civic Center, 1 Worthington Ave. Wyoming, OH 45215.
Any donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer's Association at act.alz.org
