SCHMIDT, Elmer J. "Slug" Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Cook) Schmidt. Devoted father of Carol (Arthur) McCardle and the late Jon Schmidt. Cherished grandfather of Kathy (Travis McCulley) McAninch and Jon W. (Laura) Fricke. Loving great grandfather of Kyle, Jacob & Seth McAninch, Dylan Fricke, and Matthew & Jacob Thiele. Dear brother of the late Leonard Schmidt. Elmer retired in 1980 after working 43 years in the Engineering Department at Tool Steel Gear and Pinion Company (XTec) where he started in 1937. He passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the age of 99 years. Visitation will be held from 12 Noon - 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Vorhis and Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale, OH 45246.
