Outside of his professional endeavors, Doug enjoyed a variety of hobbies that enriched his life. He had a passion for curling and fishing. Additionally, he was an avid collector of antique clocks, reflecting his appreciation for craftsmanship and history.

Douglas is survived by his cherished wife, Dorothy Jean, and their two beloved children, daughter Patti Ann More (Brett) and son Robert Gordon Cowan.
