“If there is a heaven for me, I’m sure it has a beach attached . . .” (Jimmy Buffett)
On the fifth of October 2022, David George Schneider followed this Parrothead philosophy leaving a large void in the world with his death. Dave was known as a gentle and strong man who would do anything, for anyone, at any time; he never met a stranger. David loved and spoiled his wife and daughter - his girls, and also his doggies that he took on multiple daily walks. His intelligence paired with a plethora of trivia and his sense of humor made him a wonderful storyteller of his life experiences including: growing up in Miamisburg, Ohio – working at the public pool with his family, inheriting a love of football from three generations including his father and brother, and playing with the Mound Avenue neighborhood kids. After attending three high schools (Chaminade, Waynesville, Stebbins), Dave got his BS in mathematics at Wittenberg University and proudly was on their 1973 National Football Championship team; later he earned a MA in Mathematics at the University of Cincinnati. At eighteen, he began dating the love of his life, Dennetta for nine years - followed by a loving marriage of 42 years; they adopted their daughter, Megan, which was his pride and joy. David not only taught mathematics in eight different high schools, he coached football, worked concert security at Riverbend and various other concert venues, and graded state standardized tests at Data Recognition Corporation. He was an avid reader of many genres, loved watching Megan figure skating and going to Buffett concerts and OSU football games together, and assembled an extensive comic book collection; he also enjoyed traveling and photography especially after retiring. Most recently, Dave explored Anna Maria Island in Florida with his family.
David was born on November 10, 1952 in Dayton, Ohio to Virginia (Boyer) and Hank Schneider who preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dennetta (Donaldson) Schneider, loving daughter Megan Elizabeth Schneider, and his faithful companions, Griffin and Pippa. Dave is survived by two brothers, Michael (Ann) Schneider, Robert (Roland) Schneider; (preceded in death by brother Samuel); survived also by: Pam Schneider; Jeff Johnson; nephew Lance (Lesley) Schneider; nieces: Lori (William) Macbeth, Leslie Schneider Johnson; great nieces: Margo Macbeth, Emma & Olivia Johnson; great nephews: William & Jack Macbeth, Henry Schneider; Donaldson In-laws: Mama Carol Donaldson; sisters: Rebecca (Jeff) Jones, Michele Rene Donaldson; brother Robert (Reiko) Donaldson; niece Kathryn (Joey) Najm; nephews: Kyle Jones, Tenki Donaldson; and many cousins, friends & neighbors, teammates and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to: http://www.savethemanatee.org on Dave’s memory page OR a donation to the Hamilton County Library Foundation: https://supportchpl.org/ways-to-support/befriend-a-branch/ . From this page, Forest Park can be selected, then check Tribute Gift to enter Dave’s name. Donation cards will be available for both organizations at the “Remembering Dave…” gathering of family and friends in November.
