Dallas Lee Pennington, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 9, 2022.
Dallas is survived by his wife Linda; children, Amy Fezzey (Tom), John Pennington, Erin Bidwell (Dave); stepdaughters, Amy Chisam (Stewart), Carrie Cox; grandchildren, Loren Weber (Nick), Marlene Ramsey (Sean), Jacob Howard Pennington (Aisha), Grace Bidwell, Connor Bidwell, Benjamin Chisam, Meredith Chisam, Brady Cox; great grandchildren, Chris Weber, Alison Weber and Mina Ramsey; sister, Janice Mulcahey (Gene); nieces and nephews, Chris Cavarozzi, Sharon James, Mike Mulcahey, Sally James, Dan Mulcahey and Susan Callahan; brother-in-law, John Cooper (Cheryl); sister-in-law, Barbara Moore.
Dallas is preceded in death by his parents Adraine and Howard Pennington and his sister Joyce (Pennington) Cavarozzi.
Dallas was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 16, 1935. He graduated from Wyoming High School in 1953 where he co-captained the varsity football team. He then went on to play football for Duke University prior to transferring to the University of Cincinnati and graduating with a business degree in 1957. He began his career at Ohio National Life Insurance Company where he retired as a Senior Vice President in 1998. After retirement he and his wife Linda moved to Southport, North Carolina where he studied to become an Emergency Medical Responder to meet the needs of his community. Several years later a move to Aiken, South Carolina provided for additional friendships, golf, travel and serving on the finance committee at his church, St. Paul Lutheran Church. Dallas enjoyed everything from coaching peewee football and participating in sports to serving numerous charitable organizations, fishing, following Duke basketball, and the love and devotion of his canine companions.
Dallas was a man of great faith who was beloved by his family, friends, and church community, and will be remembered for his strong presence, love of family, and the care he gave to those in his life.
There will be two services to honor his life, the first to be held Friday, March 18 th , 2022, at 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 961 Trail Ridge Road, Aiken, South Carolina 29803. A reception will follow the service at the church. The second service will be held Saturday, March 26 th , 2022 at 11am at Vorhis and Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale, Ohio 45246. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with a reception after at deSha’s Restaurant, 11320 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249.
