SANDERSCrystal (nee Shook). Loving wife of the late John Sanders. Beloved mother of John R. (Diana) Sanders and Mary Jane (Raymond) Bogart. Dear grandmother of Sally Ruisinger, Susie (Eric) Dunlap, John C. (Angie) Sanders, Erin and Eric Bogart; great grandmother of ten and great-great grandmother of two. Caring sister of Florence Buckley. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Crystal was born February 5, 1912 on Lawndale Avenue in Pleasant Ridge. Except for two years, she lived her entire life within one mile of Montgomery Road. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Garden Club. She traveled extensively touring England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, Hawaii, and the Virgin Islands. Mrs. Sanders was a devoted member of Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church for 87 years. She served as a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, a Circle Chair, and also worked on the bazaar and rummage sales. At the time the new Pleasant Ridge Montessori School was dedicated, she was the oldest living graduate of the original Pleasant Ridge School. In commemoration of this event, a brick with her name was laid in the sidewalk in honor of Crystal Sanders. She loved life, her family and friends, and swam at Coney Island at the age of 92.Passed away Friday, May 15, 2009. Age 97 years. Private burial at the convenience of the family. Memorial service on Saturday, May 23, 2009, 12 Noon, at Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church, 5950 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45213. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church or to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O. Box 633597, Cincinnati, OH 45263.
