Callis Thomas

THOMASCallis A., beloved husband of Christine (nee Garner) Thomas for 57 years of marriage; loving father of Mark A. Thomas and Kathy Thomas; adoring grandfather of Dale Thomas Dawson and Sydney Grace Brown. Also survived by Richard (Linda) Thomas, Steven Thomas; Freida (Bobby) Gosser-Bernard, Carol Ann (Eugene) Wilson; two special sisters-in-law, Opal Thomas and Edna Thomas; and many nieces and nephews and also his very special stepmother, Helen Frankum Thomas. He is preceded in death by his mother Enola Brockman Thomas, father Oral Thomas; two brothers, Dock Carson Thomas and Olan Dale Thomas and his in-laws, Robert Garner & Opha (Beasley) Garner. Passed away very peacefully at home, October 18, 2013 at the age of 77. He was a member of New Haven Missionary Baptist Church and a former Trustee with the Church. He was also a longstanding member of Bradley Pleasure Church in Nancy, KY. He joined the Marines in 1956, and served 4 years. In 1959, he began his career at Procter and Gamble. He retired from the company after over 40 years in the early 2000's. In 1971, he purchased his first tractor & trailer for his brother. This began a future empire of Thomas Trucking that has supplied 100's of jobs for many families throughout the years. He leaves behind many special friends; racers; co-workers and dedicated employees. A visitation will be held at the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church, 2417 Indian Mound Avenue, Norwood, Ohio 45212 on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 3:00 PM until time of funeral service at 7:00 PM. There will be an additional visitation and service at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky, to be announced at a later date. Burial will be at the Bradley's Pleasure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church or Bradley's Pleasure Cemetery, W. KY 80, Nancy, KY.
