Beverly Jane Shooner-McDaniel
December 27th 1926-January 25th, 2018
Beverly Jane (nee Fischer, Hibbard) born December 27, 1926, is the wife of late Robert Jean Shooner and late Sherman McDaniel. Robert and Beverly worked lovingly side-by-side having ten children including the late Matthew Shooner and the late Cecelia Shooner. They are survived by children Robert (Rosie), Matthew’s wife, Irene, Michael (Pam), Gregory (Mary), Cindy (the late Paul Malott), Teresa (Mike) Hineman, Mary Shooner-Gilhooley, Mark (Dianna) and Byron (Kerry). She was also survived by 24 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
Beverly was born in Saginaw, Michigan to parents Cecelia and Bernard, attended St. Priscilla Elementary and moved to Chicago where she attended Von Steuben High School. She met Robert in Chicago while he was in Navy Boot Camp at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station and was wed on March 17th, 1945 in Long Beach, California. Beverly and Robert’s marriage exemplified true partnership, sharing the joys of the Catholic faith, travel, golfing, fishing, building a successful business and raising ten children together...always together. The life they shared ended with his death in 1974. Beverly had a tireless appetite for knowledge and was self-taught on every subject imaginable. She possessed a keen understanding of life, especially of entrepreneurship and offered wise counsel to her children and grandchildren until the very end.
Yet, of all her accomplishments the one of which she will be most remembered was her ability to make everyone feel special. She loved everyone according to their needs, not hers. Beverly was changed forever after a trip to the Holy Land and her passion for, and understanding of the selfless Love of Jesus Christ was magnified, not only in her life but shone forth into the lives of every person she encountered.
As her health declined in recent years, she was relegated to a bed. While this was a life totally in contrast to her energetic, adventurous, driving personality, she met everyone, from grandchild to caregiver with a huge smile, making them feel like they were the only person in the world.
Beverly was indeed an extraordinary woman and an inspiration to all that were blessed to know her. She was a true Christian, joyful always, regardless of her circumstances, abiding always in the Eternal Love of Jesus Christ.
