Lois Elizabeth Rose Ledbetter “Betty” Sensibaugh, age 99, peacefully departed this earth on December 2, 2019 at The Christian Village at Mason near Cincinnati, Ohio. Welcoming Betty at heaven’s gates were her loving husband of 56 years Hugh, along with their infant daughter Sandra and son Dan. Betty was born in Pyatt, Arkansas on August 24, 1920, the youngest of nine children born to James Oliver and Lillie Belle Ledbetter. She spent most of her formative years in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma before going to Indianapolis where she attended Butler University. After graduating from Butler with a degree in library science, Betty married Hugh Sensibaugh in 1941 and relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Betty ministered faithfully with her husband at the Lockland Christian Church for more than 45 years. She was truly “God’s hands and feet” on this earth, with a heart for serving others. Among the many roles she served at Lockland Christian were pianist, organist, teacher, fellowship coordinator, and church secretary. Outside the church she spent many years volunteering weekly at the Valley Food and Clothing bank.
Betty was one of the most loving and kind-hearted individuals that God created. Her capacity to love unconditionally was immeasurable. She lived out her Christ-like example daily and the fruits of the spirit flowed naturally through her words and actions. Her contagious smile and eyes of blue endeared her to many.
Shortly after Betty’s husband died in 1997, she relocated to The Christian Village at Mason where she spent the remainder of her life. For many years she faithfully served the residents by organizing the library and serving in the gift shop. Betty was loved by all the residents and staff.
Those left to cherish the memories of Betty’s abundant life include: one daughter, Sybil Atkinson, Pulaski, VA; three sons, Mike (and wife Dana), St. Louis, MO; David (and wife Debbie), Kingsport, TN; and Rod “Socko” (and wife Anne), Fairfax Station, VA. Also blessed to call Betty “Grandma” or “Gram” are ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the team at The Christian Village at Mason for the loving care they provided Betty, especially during the last few years of her life.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 21, 2019 from 11am-12noon in the chapel of The Christian Village, 411 Western Row Rd., Mason, OH 45040, followed by a service to celebrate Betty’s life at 12 noon. A private burial will be held after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Compassionate Care Fund at The Christian Village at Mason, 411 Western Row Road, Mason, OH 45040 (online contributions available at https://christianvillages.org/donate/ or to the Lockland Christian Church, 231 Mill Street, Cincinnati, OH 45215-4626.
