Audrey M. Culbertson passed away peacefully at The Grace Center at Mason Christian Village on Thursday, December 17, 2020, surrounded by loving family. Miss Culbertson is preceded in death by her parents, Harry H. and Edna (nee Kuntz) Culbertson; her sister and brother-in-law, Harriet and Marvin Swartz, her brother, Harry H., Jr. "Bud," and her nephew, Douglas Swartz. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Jo Ann Culbertson, nieces Jackie (Chris) Roberts and Linda Culbertson (David Dorfman) and her nephew, Steve (Alice) Culbertson. Her six great-nieces were the light of her life-Elizabeth (Will) Gillen, Stephany Roberts (Cody Dill), Suzanne Culbertson (Andy Kukec), Katrina Culbertson (Bryson Sanders), Hannah Dorfman, and Emma Dorfman. Her extended family, her goddaughter, Beth Drewes-Todd, and a host of friends were a blessing and comfort to her and enriched her life greatly. Miss Culbertson was born in Owensville, Ohio and graduated from Batavia High School. She was a teacher for 30 years, beginning her career in the Cincinnati Public Schools, Heberle Elementary, and then the Oak Hills Local Schools, Bridgetown, Oakdale, and JF Dulles. She taught both fifth and sixth grades and finished her career as a reading specialist. In 1981, she was chosen "Teacher of the Year" by her colleagues and administrators. She also received the "Teachers Touch Lives" award. She was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, having earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree there. After retiring in 1985, Miss Culbertson became a tax preparer for H&R Block, volunteered at Miami Whitewater Forest and the Cincinnati Art Museum. She enjoyed playing bridge and euchre, sewing, gardening, and travel. She loved to go to the Cincinnati Pops and the musical/drama productions at the College Conservatory of Music. She was a member of Forest Chapel United Methodist Church, where she was very active. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2020 at 11 AM at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity, Neediest Kids of All, or any charity of your choice.
